Tata Nexon iCNG launched with a petrol turbo engine.
Tata Motors has finally launched the Nexon iCNG. It becomes the first CNG car in India to come with a turbo engine. The CNG variants of the SUV are priced at Rs 8.99 Lakhs. The Nexon CNG is available in eight variants starting from Rs 8.99 Lakhs and going all the way up to Rs 14.59 Lakhs.
The SUV is powered by a 1.2L Turbo Petrol engine producing 100 HP and 170 Nm of torque, while the petrol variants produce 120HP, maintaining the same torque output. The CNG model has an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 24 km/kg and is paired with a 60-litre CNG tank. Currently, it is available only with a manual gearbox, though Tata may introduce an AMT variant in the future.
It also comes equipped with Tata’s Dual Cylinder technology enhancing the boot space significantly, offering a 321-litre boot capacity, which is just 61 litres less than the petrol and diesel versions.
Tata Nexon competed directly with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Skoda Kushaq etc. Out of all the other cars in the segment, only the Maruti Suzuki Brezza comes with factory fitted CNG option. While the Nexon CNG is priced a bit higher than the rivals, it offers enhanced safety and it is the most feature-equipped car in the segment. Maruti Suzuki Fronx CNG is also priced in the same price range only but offers less space and features.
